Fifteen Youngstown State University students attended the East-Central American College Dance Association conference in Kalamazoo, Mich. The group attended master classes in a variety of dance techniques, research presentations and video showings, as well as professionally adjudicated dance concerts featuring dance works from 25 regional college and university dance major and minor programs. Eleven YSU students performed in one of the adjudicated concerts.

A team of five students from the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University placed third at the Chartered Financial Analyst Research Challenge in Cleveland. The YSU team made their inaugural appearance at the competition against nine other seasoned universities, placing ahead of teams that included graduate student members.

A team of three Youngstown State University students placed second nationally in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl. In all, teams from 36 universities competed this year in Virginia.

Tartuffe, the classic 17th-century comedic satire by Moliere, will be presented by Youngstown State University Theater Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Feb. 26, 27 and 28, and March 4, 5 and 6 in Bliss Hall's Spotlight Theater on the YSU campus.

The American Collegiate Moot Court Association National Championship Tournament was in Long Beach, Calif.

Golden Key is the world's largest collegiate honor society with more than 400 chapters at universities and colleges around the world. Membership is extended to the top 15 percent of sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as top-performing graduate students in all fields of study, based on academic achievement.

"I have been going to conferences with YSU students since I started here in 2001, and I can honestly say that I have never been with such a better group overall," said Angela Spalsbury, professor and chair of the YSU Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

YSU was among 60 schools of nursing nationally awarded $1,000 grants from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to support the white coat ceremony.
