Youngstown State University is a comprehensive urban research university that offers over 11,500 students more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs of study. Business students selected for John D. Beeghly Fellows program

Rebecca Catlos, Steven Boschert and Zachary Clark, students from the Williamson College of Business Administration, were selected as the John D. Beeghly Fellows for the 2024 Spring Semester. The John D. Beeghly Fellows program provides students with a paid fellowship working with the Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Export Assistance Network (SBDC EAN) and the APEX Accelerator at Youngstown State University. Projects include domestic and international market research, financial modeling, export readiness studies, business viability analysis, cash flow projections, sales forecasting, marketing & social media strategies, research on government contracting opportunities, marketing capability statements and outreach for government contracting efforts. Students gain valuable career-related work experience to competitively position themselves in the job market upon graduation.

YSU Business Students Selected for Beeghly Fellows Program

Jenna Binsley, Sabrina Caruso, Alanis Chew, Roshan Chokshi, and Ryan Sheffield, business students in the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University, have been selected as the John D. Beeghly Fellows for the 2020 Spring Semester. The program provides students with a paid fellowship working with the Ohio Small Business Development Center at YSU. Projects include financial analysis and sales forecasting, market research, export readiness studies, country research, business loan proposals, cash flow analysis and government contracting. Students gain valuable career-related work experience, and are able to position themselves to be competitive in the job market upon graduation.

YSU student becomes Certified Global Business Professional

Ryan Sheffield, a junior Youngstown State University management major, has passed the Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) exam. The certification issued by the National Association for Small Business International Trade Educators is a prestigious acknowledgment of international business expertise in management, marketing, supply-chain management and trade finance.

Students present to YSU Board of Trustees

Three YSU students delivered presentations to the YSU Board of Trustees during their quarterly meetings, Dec. 4 and 5. Presenters include Carla J. Colantone, a senior in Dental Hygiene, who discussed the university's DH program, accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and Nadine P. Jones, a Political Science and Philosophy major, and Zachary W. Mayer, a History major and a minor in Judaic Studies, who together talked about their research on the holocaust, including a class/study trip to Czech Republic, Poland and Germany that featured visits to concentration camps.

YSU's record delegation invades Chicago sports medicine conference

Thirty-two students and two faculty members represented Youngstown State University at the 47th Annual Meeting of the Midwest Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine in Chicago earlier this fall. It was YSU's largest ever delegation to the conference. MWACSM is one of 12 regional chapters within the ACSM - the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. Three YSU students and one faculty member made presentations.

YSU Monus Fellows work with YBI companies

Six Youngstown State University students have been selected to take part in the Monus Entrepreneurship Fellows Program and are working with Youngstown Business Incubator portfolio companies this fall semester. Students include Alyssa Covert, Isaac Hraga, Jeremy Keillor, My N Lee, Larsen Murvin and Richard Salmen, all seniors. The Monus Entrepreneurship Fellows program provides students interested in entrepreneurship with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with local entrepreneurs. Projects include marketing research, preparation of financial statements, export readiness studies, project management, marketing, cash flow analysis, and sales forecasts. YBI, one of the world's top ranked university-affiliated incubators, is a key partner with the Monus Fellows Program.

YSU Nonprofit Leadership students consult for Children's Museum of Cleveland

A group of 10 Youngstown State University students in the Center for Nonprofit Leadership recently participated in a full-day immersive consulting project with the Children's Museum of Cleveland. The students identified solutions to organizational challenges facing the museum, including strategic planning, member to donor conversion and social media. Students participating in the project were Kate Landry, Amanda Paynter, Briana McGuire, Shannon Arnim, Cliff Hill, Morgan Conley, Kelly Hyden, Khiana Jeanniton, Alyssa Lutker and Leah Tekac.

Honors College students represent YSU at national conference

A delegation of eight students from the Honors College represented YSU at the National Collegiate Honors Council conference earlier this month in New Orleans. Students presented original research, shared best practices in honors and returned with new ideas to share with the college. In the past decade, YSU students have received four top NCHC awards.

Four Business students named Beeghly Fellows

Students selected for international X-Culture event

Five students in the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University were among a select group of young people from throughout the world chosen to attend the week-long X-Culture Symposium at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Seniors Matthew A. Steer, Alanis Chew, John P. Rembis, Mason Scovil and Stephanie Virgallito were among 150 students chosen out of 5,000 eligible students from 40 countries to go to the conference this past summer.

YSU sweeps top awards at additive manufacturing conference

A student, a faculty member and an alumnae of Youngstown State University swept the awards at the annual conference of the Ohio Additive Manufacturing Cluster in Cleveland. The cluster is a partnership between the Youngstown Business Incubator, Team NEO, MAGNET, JobsOhio and America Makes, with the goal of accelerating the adoption of 3D printing in Ohio. The awards ceremony, attended by more than 200 people, spotlighted individuals contributing to the advancement and use of additive manufacturing in Ohio.

Student earns ADDY Award for video cinematography

Mario Ricciardi of Boardman, an Advertising and Public Relations major at Youngstown State University, received a Student Silver ADDY Award for video cinematography at the Akron ADDY Awards. The annual awards program recognizes creative excellence in locally-created advertising. Ricciardi's submission was a music video created for Dahnji, a local music artist, to accompany the release of the artist's latest album.

Nearly 40 Youngstown State University Doctor of Physical Therapy students attended the American Physical Therapy Association's Combined Sections Meeting in Washington D.C. last month. The event is the nation's largest physical therapy conference with more than 13,000 therapists in attendance. Students participated in several educational sessions and poster presentations in the specialty areas of Sports, Orthopedics, Neurology, Geriatrics, Health Policy, Pediatrics, Cardiopulmonary, Acute Care, Women's and Men's Health, Electrophysiology and Research.
