Nearly 400 YSU honors students have received their Honors College pin. The award signifies that students have earned at least half of the honors credits needed prior to graduation. Students complete honors courses, community service, and engagement activities as members of the college.

Youngstown State University students earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average have been named to the President's List.

A team of YSU students won a competition called thePitch, a one-day event focused on advertising and associated disciplines. Students from 11 colleges and universities comprising seven teams received hands-on experience by working at one of Pittsburgh's advertising agencies on a real-world project for a local non-profit organization. The team consisted of Taylor Valerio; Carly M. Redmond, Jayde E. Faustino, Ryan T. Lantz, Andrea J. Minotti, Brooke M. Lissy and Elaine Ngo.

YSU students from the Williamson College of Business Administration placed in two national competitions after collaborating and finding a way to reuse unrecyclable plastic waste, starting with straws, into 3D printing filament to create face shields and ear savers for nurses on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Clarence P. Gould Honor Society of Youngstown State University has inducted 40 juniors and seniors into its 63rd cohort. Inductees were evaluated for academic excellence as well as depth and breadth of study. New members are elected from the top students choosing a curriculum founded in the liberal arts and sciences from the Cliffe College of Creative Arts and Communication, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The Honors College at Youngstown State University has recognized several students as part of the Honors Student of the Week initiative for Spring semester 2020. The college launched the program earlier this academic year to recognize academic excellence, community engagement and student success. The Honors Student of the Week is announced each Sunday in the college's weekly e-newsletter sent to Honors College students, staff and faculty and also posted on the YSU website. There are currently 1,266 students in the college.

YSU students receive awards in the 12th annual Stocks Essay contest. The competition allows students to consider economic problems from different points of view.

Michaela Cavalcanti, a Spring 2020 YSU graduate, received the Ohio Society for Human Resource Management State Council Scholarship Award for academic performance.

Twenty YSU students were recently inducted into the Order of Omega, the Greek National Honorary Society. Membership is open to juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Students were recognized at this year's Virtual Greek Awards Ceremony, which can be viewed here.

Adaline Cook of Vandergrift, Pa., a Gerontology major at Youngstown State University, won the Ohio Association of Gerontology and Education Outstanding Undergraduate Paper in Gerontology Award.
