YSU students received a variety of honors during the annual Student Awards Banquet on campus.

Twenty-five Youngstown State University students were recognized recently for their participation in the YSU Presidential Mentors Program. The mentors regularly meet with the university president to provide feedback and advice on a variety of campus topics. The students were honored at the recent Student Awards Banquet.

Five Youngstown State University students recently received the Pin Award, which annually recognizes graduating seniors who have achieved academic success and demonstrated outstanding leadership, motivation and creativity in university and community activities.

Eighteen YSU students were honored at the annual Student Awards Banquet for their participation in the YSU Emerging Leaders Program. The program is designed to strengthen leadership knowledge and skills.

Two teams of Youngstown State University undergraduate students won Meritorious awards in this year's Mathematical Contest in Modeling, placing the teams in the top 11 percent of the more than 6,500 teams who competed worldwide.

The event includes research and scholarship in all forms - scientific findings, musical scores, engineering designs and analyses, panel discussions, poetry readings, dance performances, honors and senior theses, study abroad experiences, and more.

A group of students at Youngstown State University recently showcased consulting work they completed this semester with area small businesses. Students helped the businesses develop websites and social media plans.

The Youngstown State University Dance Ensemble presented its annual spring concert in May, showcasing more than 30 students performing a dozen dances in a variety of genres, including jazz, tap, modern, musical theater and hip hop.
