Youngstown State University has welcomed 17 students to the prestigious Navarro Executive Fellows program, including five new members, all freshmen, and 12 returning members.

Two top editors at The Jambar, Youngstown State University's student newspaper, will be among the featured speakers for YSU's 79th Annual Press Day, set for Monday, Oct. 16 on the YSU campus. More than 300 high school students and advisers from 20 school districts across the region will participate.

Three Youngstown State University graduate students created an exhibit, titled "We Made It! We Sold It! We Bought It!", for display at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor. The exhibit, which opened in early May, features a wide range of household artifacts that people of the industrial northeast manufactured, bought and sold during America's golden industrial era (1945-1965).

Fourteen students in Youngstown State University's Israeli Politics class will present a Model Knesset, a simulation of Israel's parliament, from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 in the Ohio Room at Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the recipients of a 2016 Love of Learning Award from Session A of the program. The awards help fund post-baccalaureate studies and career development for active Phi Kappa Phi members.

Fifteen Youngstown State University students attended the East-Central American College Dance Association conference in Kalamazoo, Mich. The group attended master classes in a variety of dance techniques, research presentations and video showings, as well as professionally adjudicated dance concerts featuring dance works from 25 regional college and university dance major and minor programs. Eleven YSU students performed in one of the adjudicated concerts.

"I have been going to conferences with YSU students since I started here in 2001, and I can honestly say that I have never been with such a better group overall," said Angela Spalsbury, professor and chair of the YSU Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

YSU was among 60 schools of nursing nationally awarded $1,000 grants from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to support the white coat ceremony.

Nearly 1,000 students serve as officers in a variety of student groups and organizations at Youngstown State University.

Peer Mentors help guide first-year YSU students toward the path of success.

The YSU team has historically been one of the most successful at the annual national event, and was once again this year.

Thirty-five incoming freshmen have been selected to enter the Bachelor of Science/Medical Degree program at Youngstown State University. They will complete their first two years of study at YSU before moving into a reserved seat at the Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Five Youngstown State University students were presented the Pin Award, which annually recognizes graduating seniors who have achieved academic success and demonstrated outstanding leadership, motivation and creativity in university and community activities.
