Journalism

We live in an information society where new technologies create even more opportunities for sharing news and telling stories. Develop skills that will serve traditional media, new media and many other careers that focus on gathering, processing, creating and distributing information.

What You'll Study

As a Journalism major, your classes will open up a world of experiences that take you right into the action of finding, covering and sharing news and information. Be an editor, contributor or photographer for YSU's student newspaper, The Jambar;Yo Magazine; Jambar TV, Rookery Radio; our student-run literary online magazine, Jenny; The Penguin Review or tons of other publications around campus to put your skills to the test.

Although your studies may start at YSU, our program quickly takes you off of campus as well and into Youngstown, Warren and the greater Mahoning Valley. With two major newspapers, three television news stations and a myriad of other print and digital publications, you will have plenty of opportunities to hone your journalistic talents.
