Julie Centofanti served in joint Transcribe-a-thon with YSU and UTA

Julie Centofanti, Biology, was among students in the YSU Sokolov Honors College Transcribing Club who recently transcribed with honors students at University of Texas at Arlington. In all, 61 students from both schools transcribed about 400 documents in two hours.

Centofanti is also the founder of the group.

The collaboration resulted from the National Collegiate Honors Council conference last fall. The YSU Honors College's transcribing efforts began in August 2020 as a way for students to volunteer virtually while building community. Students transcribe documents through the Smithsonian and Library of Congress and have collectively transcribed more than 16,000 documents since inception.
