Youngstown State student Tyler Williams of Warren, Ohio, earns Homework Express honor

Youngstown State University student Tyler Williams of Warren, Ohio, is part of the production crew of the Homework Express television show that was recently honored with a national award.

The TV show, aired live from studios in Bliss Hall on the YSU campus, placed second in the Broadcast Education Association's national competition and will be featured at the international BEA Festival of Media Arts in Las Vegas in April.

Williams, a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, served as Server Operator of the winning episode of the show.

Homework Express, a call-in homework help show for middle school students, is broadcast to more than a million households throughout northeast Ohio. The show is now in its eighth season. The crew, including writers, line producers and directors, are students in the Youngstown State University Telecommunications Studies program in the College of Fine and Performing Arts.

The Broadcast Education Association is the professional association for professors, industry professionals and graduate students who are interested in teaching and research related to electronic media and multimedia enterprises. Members include more than 1,600 professors, students and media professionals and about 275 college and university departments and schools.

Homework Express competed against colleges from around the country, including the University of Oklahoma, Michigan State University, Ithaca College, San Francisco State University and Kent State University.
