Youngstown State Student Crystal Gianetti of Girard, OH, Presents Research at QUEST

2013 Apr 9

Youngstown State University student Crystal Gianetti of Girard, OH, made a presentation at the annual QUEST research conference on the YSU campus.

Gianetti is majoring in Anthropology at YSU. The presentation was titled: An analysis of the discrepancy between funding for Anthropology programs and STEM related programs: An empirical approach to determining what causes this discrepancy and why this occurs across campuses and nationwide..

QUEST showcases the scholarly achievements of YSU undergraduate and graduate students. The event includes research and scholarship in all forms - scientific findings, musical scores, engineering designs and analyses, panel discussions, poetry readings, dance performances, honors and senior theses, study abroad experiences, and more.

"An entire day devoted to recognizing and celebrating student scholarship is rare," said Jeffrey Coldren, YSU director of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activities. "Unlike other universities that possess excellent research reputations based largely upon the work of faculty members and graduate students, YSU's QUEST is devoted to scholarship that is initiated and performed largely by students. The fact that freshmen and sophomores can get actively involved in research projects with full professors is unusual on college campuses today."
