Montana Gessler competes nationally with YSU Steel Bridge Team

Montana Gessler of Poland, Ohio (44514), was part of Youngstown State University's Steel Bridge Team when it took first place in the regional Steel Bridge Competition recently at Ohio State University, winning the right to compete on the national level. Gessler is a Industrial and Systems Engineering major at YSU.

Out of seven events, YSU placed first in the steel bridge and concrete horseshoe competions and second in the concrete canoe and environmental design competitions.

The team, an American Society of Civil Engineers YSU Student Chapter, competed against fifteen colleges and universities from Ohio, Kentucky and Western Pennsylvania including Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Cinncinati, the Universty of Pittsburgh and Ohio State University. The team will compete in the National Student Steel Bridge Competition at Oregon State University May 26 and 27.
