Maxwell Brooke competes with YSU's regional champion Quiz Bowl team

Maxwell Brooke of North Lima, Ohio, was part of a team of three Youngstown State University students who won the regional Quiz Bowl at the Midwest Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine's annual meeting in Grand Rapids, Mich. Brooke, a South Range High School graduate, is an Exercise Science major at YSU.

The winning YSU team bested teams from 20 colleges and universities throughout the Midwest, including Cincinnati, Kent State, Ohio University, Michigan State, Southern Illinois and John Carroll University. All the participants arel studying Exercise Science at YSU.

The students won $1,200 to help pay for travel to compete at the national ACSM meeting in May in Minneapolis. A Quiz Bowl is a Jeopardy-like competition with categories related to exercise science, such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, andA nutrition.

ACSMA is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world, with more than 50,000 members and certified professionals worldwide.
