Emily Alcorn of Poland, OH, Performs in Youngstown State University Opera Production

Emily Alcorn of Poland, OH, a Junior at Youngstown State University, is part of the cast of the latest production of YSU's Performing Arts Series and the Dana School of Music.

Alcorn, who is majoring in Music Education at YSU, is in the cast of two one-act operas being performed April 19 through 22 in Bliss Hall's Ford Theater at YSU. Thursday through Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee show is at 3 p.m.

The two operas are: "La Serva Padrona (The Servant Turned Mistress)" by Giovanni Pergolesi, and "Dido and Aeneas" by Henry Purcell.

Founded more than 140 years ago, the Dana School of Music is one of the oldest music schools in the United States. More than 50 faculty and staff maintain a tradition of conservatory-style music training in a metropolitan university setting.
