Chelsie Hazenstab of Boardman, OH, launches new Women in Communications chapter at Youngstown State University

2013 Apr 5

Chelsie Hazenstab of Boardman, OH, a student at Youngstown State University, is one of the eight founding members of the new YSU chapter of the Association for Women in Communications. Hazenstab is the head of social media and public relations for the organization.

The members are students in YSU's communications, journalism and professional writing/editing programs.

The chapter was started after Mary Beth Earnheardt, assistant professor of English and Journalism, began soliciting interest in pioneering such a group on the YSU campus. The primary goal of the organization is to promote and improve the ability of women at YSU to work within the various communication fields, like journalism, marketing, public relations, editing, etc. The group promoted the recent campus visit of journalist Bob Woodward, and has volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank. The group hopes to eventually offer a scholarship to a YSU student majoring in the communications fields.
